Vada Pav Recipe
Ingredients for Vada
● Boiled Potatoes and peeled 6 larg
● Pav ( Bread slices) 8 small
● Oil 1 tablespoon
● Asafoetida (Hing) 1/4 teaspoon
● Salt to taste
● Turmeric 1/4 teaspoon
● Green chillies- garlic paste 1 tbsp
● Fresh coriander chopped 1/3 cup
● Lemon juice 1 tbsp
For making Batter
● Gram flour ( besan) 1/3 cup
● Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon
● Turmeric powder 1/3 teaspoon
● Salt to taste
● Soda bicarbonate a small pinch
Method for Dish
Step 1-
For making batter place the gram flour in a bowl. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, soda bicarbonate and mix then add sufficient water and make a smooth and thick batter. Now put it aside at least for 12-15 minutes. Now place the boiled potatoes in a bowl.
Step 2-
Heat one tablespoon oil in a pan. Add asafoetida ( Hing), turmeric powder, green-chilli garlic paste and mix it. Add potatoes, salt and mix. Put it aside to cool. Now add coriander leaves, lemon juice and mix and also mash the potatoes some more.
Step 3-
Now divide the mixture into eight equal portions and make small balls.
Step 4-
Heat sufficient oil in a kadhai. Dip potato balls in the gram flour batter and deep fry till golden and crispy from the outside. Now put out on absorbent paper. Slit each pav, spread some dry garlic chutney, place a vada and press tightly.
Step 5-
Serve hot with chopped onions.
